Oceanworld Manly is a private aquarium located in Sydney, Australia

This information is taken from the Oceanworld Manly website:

Just 200m from Manly Wharf, Oceanworld is one of the premier attractions of Sydney's Northern Beaches, offering fun for kids of all ages. See the wonders of the deep with sharks, giant stingrays, sea turtles and a myriad of marine life as you walk underwater through the tunnel of our Oceanarium.

Volunteer ProgramEdit

The volunteer program at Oceanworld is fantastic for those who want to develop new skills and help conserve Australia's unique aquatic ecosystems.

The program is very popular and after completing the attached application, volunteers usually attend an interview for the limited number of openings available.

Each volunteer applicant should be able to commit 1 day a week or fortnight (usually the same day) for a 6 month period. Internships may also be possible for selected applicants. Applicants must be over 18.

Unfortunately we are inundated with volunteer applications and can therefore not guarantee a place. We recommend you complete and return your application to Oceanworld and then follow it up by email to just to keep your interest known to us.

We truly appreciate our volunteers and hope to ensure as many applicants as possible are given a turn working with our huge array of marine creatures. There are 3 broad areas that volunteers can participate in:

  • marine animal husbandry
  • education including mobile exhibits
  • assisting research and conservation initiatives

Volunteers work side by side with our experts. There is a full induction and training program to develop skills. As training sheets are completed you will be signed off on specific tasks and can move to more advanced activities.

Volunteers are a daily part of life at Oceanworld and essential to the success of the Sydney Aquarium Conservation Foundation. Some former volunteers have taken the next step to employment within the Sydney Attractions Group (incorporating Sydney Aquarium) and at other aquariums and zoos.

School Work ExperienceEdit

Oceanworld does provide work experience for school students on a first in first served basis with a maximum of one student at a time. This too is a very popular program and is quickly booked out. We can run special work experience programs for small groups of students. Oceanworld's popular kids club program runs special activities for mini marine biologists and reptile keepers.
